Şanlıurfa Folk Songs Gala Night with Symphony Music Gave Unforgettable Moments

Cumhurbaşkanlığı Senfoni Orkestrası’nın seslendirerek farklı bir renge bürüdüğü Şanlıurfa Türküleri Ankaralılara unutulmaz bir gece yaşattı.

Şanlıurfa Folk Songs, which were given a different colour by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, gave an unforgettable night to the people of Ankara. Turkish Folk Music Artist Mehmet Özbek and Ömer Türkmenoğlu took the stage with the 36-member Symphony Orchestra. Orchestra received a standing ovation. Speaking at the concert, Mayor of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül underlined that they will continue to introduce Şanlıurfa's music to the world.

With its 12 thousand years of history, Şanlıurfa, home to many civilisations, hosts important projects in the field of music as well as history, culture and gastronomy.

Şanlıurfa, which is taking firm steps towards becoming a UNESCO Music City, introduces its name to the world not only with its Sıra and Sohbet nights but also with its folk songs. With this project, 12 selected Urfa Folk Songs were brought to a form that world orchestras can play.

The gala night concert of "Şanlıurfa Folk Songs with Symphony", which was realised by Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality and projected by AK Party Şanlıurfa Deputy and EU Harmonisation Commission Chairman Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar, took place in Ada Ankara Historical Hall.

Conductor Musa Göçmen directed by the Symphony Orchestra with a huge staff of 36 people, the concert was attended by the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop as well as many guests.

At the night, Turkish Folk Music Artist Mehmet Özbek and Ömer Türkmenoğlu sang Şanlıurfa folk songs with their unique interpretation. The artists received a standing ovation at the night where Urfa folk songs echoed.

After the concert which lasted for about 2 hours, Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül took the stage and presented plaques to the artists.

Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Culture and Tourism Department presented plaques with Urfa Folk Songs performed by the symphony orchestra to the guests who attended the concert.

MAYOR  BEYAZGÜL, "WE INTRODUCE THE MUSIC OF ŞANLIURFA TO THE WORLD"

Underlining that they are determined to announce Şanlıurfa's music to the world, Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül said: '' I would like to thank our artists very much. We are now opening up to the world. Of course, not only Urfans will listen to these beautiful folk songs and this beautiful music, but all of Turkey was listening. From now on, the world will listen to it. Today, I would like to thank all the friends who contributed to this night. This project was the project of Mr Kasım Gülpınar and we implemented it and our own team made great efforts.  We have 12 thousand years of history, we have music, we have gastronomy, we have history, we have culture. Şanlıurfa is a city that transforms fire into water, Şanlıurfa is a city that harbours differences within itself and creates tolerance and Urfa is a cute city, Urfa is a fairy tale city and I invite you all to Şanlıurfa."

 

PRESIDENT OF THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKEY ŞENTOP, "ŞANLIURFA IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CITIES OF TURKEY"

Stating that Şanlıurfa is an ancient city with its music and history, Mustafa Şentop, President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, said: '' There is no doubt that Şanlıurfa is one of the most important cities not only in Turkey but also in the world in terms of history, culture and gastronomy. We knew that Şanlıurfa is very important and privileged in terms of music. Singing folk songs with the symphony orchestra was a very special night. I thank everyone who contributed.

AK Party Deputy Group Deputy Chairman İsmet Yılmaz stated that Şanlıurfa is a very beautiful city and it has become even more beautiful with this organisation.

Stating that they will continue to work for 2023 tourism capital Şanlıurfa, Şanlıurfa Governor Salih Ayhan said that they are trying to prepare Şanlıurfa for 2023 in every field and congratulated everyone who contributed.

Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar, AK Party Şanlıurfa Deputy and Chairman of the EU Harmonisation Commission, stated in his speech that they had a night of pride as Şanlıurfalı and we have left a work for future generations. This is a start, we want to organise this organisation in different cities. We will continue to make efforts to carry this culture of Şanlıurfa's culture even further.

Turkish Folk Music Artist Mehmet Özbek, '' Just as Göbeklitepe has rewritten history, the revival of Şanlıurfa Folk Songs with the symphony orchestra will rewrite the history of music.

The guests who attended the gala night and listened to the symphony and Urfa Folk Songs stated that the event was very important in cultural terms and thanked everyone who contributed to the blending of folk songs with symphony.
